Most importantly, you can tell your truth to a non-judgmental, empathetic person who can offer the suggestions, insights, and support you need. It differs from “letting it all out” to a friend in that when you see a trained therapist you can be assured of confidentiality and professional expertise to serve your needs.
Many of us were raised in a way that taught us that if we are strong enough we can figure out things by ourselves.
